His family background

His family background and his experience are a little legendary. Manolo Blahnik was born in the West of the Canary Islands 1 2 3 and his family manages banana plantation all the time in the island. And he finished his elementary education at home. In that sparse island, the fashion magazines that his mother subscribed becomes the only source of the fashion information that he wanted to know. He generated great interest in the outside world under the influence of his mother’s fashionable life.

He found that shoes are mysterious thing that can be made of pieces of cloth. littile Manolo Blahnik used his mother’s ribbons to make the first creation-he made a pair of shoes for his dog. He entered the University of Geneva and at that time his major was literature and architecture in 1965.soon he found that he was not fond of this major. One year later he left the university and went to Paris. There he studied stage design. Compared the convention and conservative of Paris, London can be called a city which is full of youth and avant-courier. After finishing the course in Paris, he went to London and there he got to know a lot of friends in the fashion circle. in 1971, he knew the chief editor of the magazine《Vogue》Diana Vreeland. This is an interesting story about this. Because of this experience; he started his career as a shoemaker. In London, the friends in the fashion circle helped him a lot and gave his many chances. Once a time, there was Ossie Clark fashion show held in a palace. He made two pairs of women shoes. One was suede leather sandals whose laces were tied above the knee. The other was blue which was made by hand. Though the design was original but he forgets to put the iron needles to hold the seven inches high heel. The models sway long on the stage and at that time he realized the importance of quality.  From now on, Manolo Blahnik studied at a professional shoe factory. He studied hard at the shoe make technology and began everything from apprentice. He tried to make everything flawless and perfect. And gradually some 1 2 3 customers began to patronage his store. at last, he was the first male who became the cover of British edition《Vogue》and at that time, he was more and more famous than before.
